An online Feng Shui consultation should begin with an agreed question and a defined property or room. It is not automatically a whole-home assessment, a renovation plan or a site visit delivered through photographs. What it includes depends on the practitioner, method and materials available.

The stages to clarify

Before, during and after an online consultation
StageWhat to confirmA useful written record
Before acceptingPractitioner identity, approach, scope, language, price, delivery and cancellation terms.A proposal describing included work and exclusions.
Before sharing materialsWho receives the files, why they are needed and how communication will work.An agreed materials list and recipient.
During analysisMissing information, uncertain measurements and questions needing clarification.A record of assumptions rather than guessed facts.
At deliveryFindings related to the agreed question and the limits of the interpretation. The agreed report, annotated plan, call or other format.
After deliveryIncluded follow-up, revisions and charges for new questions or properties. The channel and boundaries for further discussion.

This table is a preparation framework, not a promise that every consultation has the same deliverables. Confirm the actual arrangement before payment.

Materials should answer a defined question

A readable plan may show doors, windows, room uses, fixed furniture and approximate dimensions. Relevant photographs can explain a feature that is unclear on the plan. Direction information may be requested if the practitioner’s method uses it.

Ask why each item is needed. A single-room layout question does not automatically justify sending every property document or personal record. Redact access codes, unrelated names and unnecessary identifying details. If a plan is approximate, label it as approximate rather than presenting it as a surveyed drawing.

What photographs cannot establish

A photograph shows a selected view at a particular moment. It may conceal a narrow route, a change in level or what sits behind a door. A sketch may omit fixed features. Compass information can be uncertain, and a remote practitioner may need more context about the surroundings.

A responsible scope should identify conclusions that depend on missing information. The result might be a limited interpretation, a request for further material or a recommendation to obtain appropriate on-site information. Remote confidence should not be created by ignoring the gaps.

Keep interpretation and implementation separate

A traditional layout suggestion is not a structural, electrical, fire-safety or building-condition assessment. Before implementing anything that affects the property or essential access, consult the relevant qualified professional and obtain any necessary permission.

You can ask the practitioner to separate reversible furniture options from suggestions needing specialist work. Also ask which recommendation responds to a practical constraint and which comes from the traditional framework. This makes the report easier to discuss without confusing two different kinds of advice.

Questions worth asking before booking

  • Is the review limited to one room, one residence or another defined area?
  • What happens if the supplied plan or direction information is insufficient?
  • Will the explanation be in English, translated, or delivered through another arrangement?
  • How many follow-up questions or revisions are included?
  • What are the total charges and the cancellation or rescheduling terms?

Eastern Fate Guide helps find a proposed practitioner in China and coordinates communication. The practitioner provides the consultation. Start with the home consultation page and a brief description of the room question; detailed materials can wait until scope and sharing are agreed.
